10 Nhớ is one of the traditional Quan Họ songs in Vietnam that has been around for hundreds of years. Originated from Bắc Ninh province, 10 Nhớ describes the beauty of a Vietnamese woman through a series of reminders that she gives to her long-distance lover. The beauty is described as her voice, her smile and most importantly, her loyalty and her relationship with the lover. The traditional Quan Họ Bắc Ninh costume taking an abstract form of colors floating in the sky, along with the woman's words and the traditional Nón Quai Thao, describes how even when the lovers are far away, their love will always travel through the wind to reach each other.
Ngô Hồng Quang is a traditional Vietnamese vocalist and instrumentalist but he always experiments with the traditional music. In this piece, he combines Quan Họ with a Western strings quartet, creating a brand new creation. The pizzicato quality of the song is our main inspiration to create the animation for this piece.
